Bathroom Remodel!!! Yeah!!!!

Demo starts on Monday. My husband and I moved into our house about 5 years ago. We have tried to make it our own. We are working on the master bath and bedroom next. I have started some of the little things like taking off old fixtures. I did start taking off the wallpaper the other day. My house is about 20 years old and when they hung up the wallpaper they didn't size the wall first. I'm sure you can only imagine the nightmare I have on my hands now. I tried last week to take off the old paper. But it just isn't happening. Now the next step is to unfortunately to take the old dry wall off and start fresh. I am some what a neat freak and so is my husband. I just wouldn't be happy just trying to patch the walls. It will be more work but the result will be better in the long run.

I have been making trips to the Lowes and Home Depot for weeks now. I am so lucky that my husband is so handy. We will be doing the work all ourselves. I can see it now. No more moldy carpet on the floor, say bye bye to the ugly wall paper, new fresh tile and the best part of all, a double sink vanity. I don't think I will know what to do with myself. I have my eyes on glass french doors into the bath. I have already purchased a small petite chandelier to hang in the middle of the bathroom. I am some what of a impatient person. I just hope I can make it through this nightmare of a remodel. The end result will be wonderful I just know it. We have just about finished the main floor of the house. It's time to move upstairs. I can see it now, a grown up bathroom, master bedroom and beautiful white trim everywhere!!!!! I just hope I will sleep better when all said and done.

I will continue to post pictures of the progress. If you have any ideas send them on my way. Two heads are better than one.

Ah good luck with the bath remodel Kim! We just started ours 2 weeks ago. We just replaced the sinks, counter top now we have to figure out what type of tile for the back splash. We are putting off doing the shower for now. Since I do the tile work I am hesitate. The only tile work I have done have been on floors. No walls. A bit inexperienced. But one day I will say enough is enough and bring out the hammer :)
This will be fun watching the remodeling process in your bath! Good luck!!!

Wow! Janell! You are a women of all talents. I wish I could do tile. I watch and observe my husband when he does things. But I am better at supervising than doing. I am a really good clean up girl as well. Good luck with your remodel as well. I would love to see yours when all said and done to.

Thanks Chris! It is going to be a nightmare. The last redo took approx. 9 months when all said and done. Maybe this one wont take as long. I guess I can hope and pray.

Good luck Kim!.... Yep, me and my hubby went thru a bathroom gutting a few years ago...We had to shower at our neighbor's house for a week... And, as I recall, it can be a bit stressful, so try to stay out of each other's hair... hehe....especially when you are doing the work yourselves like we did.... But handy husbands are a blessing... I have one too!

Good luck.... It will be FAB when it's complete!
